SQL Server Database Development and Optimisation
We design, build and tune SQL Server and Azure SQL databases for transactional business systems and reporting that must be accurate and fast.
Microsoft SQL Server is a mature relational database with excellent tooling and deep integration with .NET and Azure. It underpins many of the ERP, POS and school management systems we build, where every transaction must be correct and reports must be trusted.
What we do with SQL Server
- Schema design for transactional systems such as orders, stock, fees and payroll
- Performance tuning: indexing, query plans and locking analysis
- Reporting databases and views for dashboards and BI tools
- Migrations from on-premises SQL Server to Azure SQL, or between versions
- High availability, backup and restore strategies
Why we use it
- Transactional integrity – robust ACID guarantees for financial and stock data.
- Tooling – query analysis, monitoring and profiling tools make problems easy to diagnose.
- Azure SQL – a fully managed option with automatic backups and scaling.
- Security – row-level security, dynamic data masking and transparent encryption.
When SQL Server is the right choice
SQL Server is an excellent choice for Microsoft-centred organisations, systems with complex reporting, and teams that already have SQL Server skills or licences. Where licensing cost is a concern or the team prefers open source, PostgreSQL offers comparable capability for most business applications. We choose based on total cost, existing skills and hosting plans, as part of our custom software development process.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Can you fix a slow SQL Server database?
Usually, yes. We analyse wait statistics, query plans and indexes, then fix the heaviest queries first. Many performance problems come from a small number of queries or missing indexes.
Should we move from SQL Server to Azure SQL?
Azure SQL removes patching, backups and hardware management, and scales on demand. Most applications migrate with few changes; we check compatibility and plan a low-downtime cut-over.
