Database technology
PostgreSQL Database Development
We design and operate PostgreSQL databases for SaaS products, APIs and AI applications that need reliability without licence costs.
PostgreSQL is a powerful open-source relational database with a strong reputation for correctness and a rich extension ecosystem. It is available as a managed service on every major cloud, and it works very well with .NET through Entity Framework Core.
What we build with PostgreSQL
- Multi-tenant SaaS databases with row-level security per tenant
- APIs and back ends for web and mobile apps
- Hybrid relational and JSON data models for flexible product catalogues
- Vector search for AI features using the pgvector extension
- Geospatial queries for logistics and mapping with PostGIS
Why we use it
- No licence fees – lower running costs, especially as you scale.
- Rich features – JSONB, full-text search, window functions and extensions.
- Managed everywhere – Azure Database for PostgreSQL, Amazon RDS and Aurora.
- AI-ready – store embeddings alongside business data rather than adding a separate vector database.
When PostgreSQL is the right choice
PostgreSQL is an excellent default for new SaaS products, cost-sensitive systems and applications that combine relational data with JSON, geospatial or vector search. If your organisation is standardised on Microsoft tooling or relies on SQL Server-specific reporting, SQL Server may be simpler to operate. We cover both in our SaaS development and cloud application development work.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Can PostgreSQL replace a dedicated vector database?
For many applications, yes. The pgvector extension supports similarity search over embeddings stored next to your business data, which simplifies architecture. Very large-scale vector workloads may still justify a specialist store.
Can you migrate from SQL Server to PostgreSQL?
Yes. We convert schemas, rewrite stored procedures where needed, migrate data with validation checks and test application behaviour. The effort depends mostly on how much logic lives in the database.
